Green Party European Election Candidate for Dublin
Senator Deirdre de Burca
Senator Deirdre de Burca was recently selected as the Green Party Euro candidate for Dublin. She will run for the European Parliament elections in Dublin in June 2009 . Senator de Burca grew up in Loughlinstown County Dublin. She attended Cabinteely Community School and then trained as a Primary School Teacher in Carysfort College, Blackrock. After teaching for a number of years she returned to study psychology in University College Dublin. She worked in the field of disability and mental health with Rehab for over a decade. She has served eight years as a county councillor and has been a member of Seanad Eireann since August 2007. Senator de Burca is the Green Party’s Spokesperson on European Affairs.
